You keep your plan, and it keeps covering specialists, imaging, and hospital care. This is an additional cost that replaces only your primary care doctor.

Questions people ask before they call
Do I keep my current insurance?
Yes. Keep your insurance exactly as it is. It still pays for your specialists, your scans, and the hospital. What it does not buy you is time with a doctor who knows you. That is the part we add.
What if I need a specialist?
I send the referral, your insurance pays for the visit. Same as now. I can refer you to specialists at Sutter, Mercy and UC Davis.
What is different is that I help you work out which specialist you need, get you ready for the appointment, and go over what they find.
If you are with Kaiser, the referral itself has to come from a Kaiser doctor. Everything else still applies.
What do labs and blood work cost?
Either way works. You can put them through your insurance, or pay our wholesale price — our cost, nothing added on, and often less than a co-pay. Specifics depend on your insurance plan.
Is there a limit on visits, calls, or messages?
No. Come in as often as you need, call or text as often as you need. Nothing is counted, and nothing costs extra.
How quickly can I actually reach you?
Same day or next day for routine visits. If something is urgent, call or text me directly.
I cap how many patients I take so this keeps being true.
Do you take Medicare?
Yes. I take Medicare and have not opted out. Covered care is billed to Medicare just as it would be at any other practice. The membership covers the access and the services Medicare does not pay for.
Do you look after older patients?
Yes, and a good deal of my work is exactly that. Older patients often have several conditions at once, a long list of medications, and more than one specialist involved. That is the situation that most needs one doctor holding the whole picture.
I am glad to work with family and caregivers too, when that is what you want.
Do you do home visits?
Yes, in Folsom, Granite Bay and El Dorado Hills, for members at Signature and above. One a year is included at Signature; Executive includes two and an ongoing schedule where that is what someone needs. Additional visits are arranged individually. Further afield we can arrange it.
A visit at home after a hospital stay is included at Signature and Executive. So is a home visit arranged ahead of time if leaving the house is difficult for you, as practice standards permit.
Video visits work anywhere in California, and blood can be drawn at home on any membership for a fee.
Is there an enrollment fee, and can I cancel?
There is a one-time $250 enrollment fee when you join. It covers gathering your records from your previous doctors, taking a full history, and building your baseline before the first visit.
After that it is monthly, with no long-term contract. You can cancel.
What if I am hospitalized?
Tell me. I see patients in the hospital myself, so I know how it works and can talk to the team looking after you.
I can see your chart directly at Sutter and Mercy, with UC Davis coming soon, so I know what the team is doing and why. I help you understand what is happening and what your real choices are.
At the Signature level and above, I also check in with you by text or phone every day you are in.
Then I pick things up when you come home, which is where most of the avoidable trouble after a hospital stay happens.
